
Trip FAQ - (Quick Info) - As of December 8

Country 411 – Located south of Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula and north of Honduras on Atlantic Ocean. Population is 250,000 with 25,000 7th-day Adventists. Climate is hot, 90’s, many dusty dirt roads with an infrastructure fashioned by the British. English the official language but Spanish is generally spoken in the small village on the western border where we work.
Cost - $1,450 – please communicate with us regarding any issues in turning in funds. All funds must go to Spencerville Church - Attn: Youth Ministries.
Important Dates
NOW – Applications, 1st come, if accepted, and payment deadline met
December 18 – Anyone using frequent flyer miles must contact Brian Show
January 1 – Passport applied for or you may not get it in time
February 13 – 50% of funds in or no ticket will be issued for you
March 7 – 90% of funds in (we transfer funds via Inter-American Division)
March 15 – 100% funds in or we hunt you down…..
March 20 (Thur) @ 4:30AM – Meet at BWI & fly via American Airlines
March 30 (Mon) actually Tues 1:00AM – Return to BWI
What We Do – Projects
Ministry – VBS in 2 villages, sports camp, door-to-door witness, church services, medical assistance, and various social evangelism
Construction – Finish school bathroom replacement and finish Sabbath School room in Bullet Tree Falls, church beautification in Arenal and Buena Vista plus improvements at Buena Vista
Education and Fun
1. Either exploration of Mayan cave with pottery and skeletons or relaxation at Barton Creek Cave Outpost.
2. Snorkeling on island off coast with Sharks and Rays (no dangerous like it sounds.)
Lodging
Either staying at La Loma Luz Adventist Hospital guest houses, they provide mattress, heated showers and cafeteria meals. Or camping in a school with meals prepared by our favorite cook from past years.
Immunization
None required though you should be up with Tetanus and Hepatitis-B
Most common "optionals" – Malaria, Hepatitis-A and Typhoid
Previous Health Issues
Dehydration, sunburn, dust related asthma, exhaustion related to dehydration
Supervision
Students are closely supervised with a 3 to 1 student to staff ratio. When someone is not where they are supposed to be we know it quickly. No one is just a chaperone, our multi-talented staff job description start with most important is:
